IPV6

How we enable and support IPV6

hSo's dual stack network is 100% IPv6 enabled and native IPv6 is available on most of our products.

We operate one of the SIXXS PoPs as part of our community project programme.

IP Transit & Leased Line support

We are able to supply IPv4 and IPv6 transit over the same physical connection (dual-stack) in either static or dynamically routed form. If you do not have your own IPv6 allocation from an RIR, we can assign you a /48 from our address space.

xDSL support

All DSL connections support native IPv6. A single IPv6 address (/128) will be assigned to your router automatically if support is enabled. If you require a subnet for use over your DSL, please email support@hso.co.uk and request one – we’ll allocate a /48 of space to you.

If you need equipment for this, we can recommend and/or supply it for you (configurations included).

Hosting

Shared Subnets

For each IPv4 address you have on a shared subnet, a /96 of IPv6 is available for use on your server, as part of a /64 network. The addresses allocated to you are built on the IPv4 address and prepended with the prefix appropriate to the VLAN on which your IPv4 space terminates. Should you require more space to be routed to your machine (e.g. for tunneling etc) we can allocate a /48 of space and route this to an address on your /96.

Private VLANs

By default we will assign a /64 of space to your VLAN and set up RAs. If you require more space to be routed to your machine (for tunneling, etc) we can allocate a /48 of space and route this to an address on your /64.

Recursive DNS Servers

We provide 2 IPv6 recursive DNS addresses, provided over our internal anycast infrastructure. These are:

  • 2a01:348:0:1::e:1
  • 2a01:348:0:1::f:1
